Rapper Kanye West changed his name to Ye
American rapper Kanye Omari West has changed his name: now his name is Ye (Ye), and he has neither a middle name nor a surname. This is reported by the online tabloid TMZ.
The official request of the rapper, signed by the judge, was at the disposal of the publication. It is clarified that the decision was approved a little less than two months after the artist submitted the necessary documents with a request to give him a new name to the court in Los Angeles.
The tabloid, citing its sources, adds that the model Kimberly Noel Kardashian West (Kim Kardashian), with whom the artist is in the divorce process, is not going to change either her current name or the names of their common children.
The rapper stated that he would change his name to Ye immediately after the release of the album of the same name, back in 2018. According to him, Ye is part of his name Kanye, and it also has a religious meaning: the word "ye" is most often found in the Bible and translates as "you".
It was noted that in California it is quite easy to change the name — it is only necessary that there is no evidence that the applicant changes the name to commit illegal actions.
On February 19, the American reality TV star Kim Kardashian officially filed for divorce from West. It is noted that the musician continues to wear an engagement ring, and the TV star took off the wedding decoration during the New Year holidays.
Information about the couple's separation and preparation for divorce appeared on January 5. Then sources said that West is annoyed by the lifestyle of the Kardashian family and he no longer "wants to have anything to do with them."
