Rogozin, in response to US threats, recalled which engines are used to correct the ISS orbit

Rogozin, in response to US threats, recalled which engines are used to correct the ISS orbit.

Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Rogozin reacted to US intentions to impose sanctions that would affect the Russian space programme. He suggested that Washington behave as a partner and "disavow the sanctions statement".

"You want to cut off our access to radiation-resistant space microelectronics? So you already did that quite officially in 2014. As you noticed, we nevertheless continue to make our own spacecraft," Rogozin wrote in a Telegram.

He also recalled that Russia is aware of the US plans to finally destroy the global space competition market from 2023. According to him, Russia is ready to act here as well.

"You want to destroy our cooperation on the ISS? So you are already doing that by restricting exchanges between our cosmonaut and astronaut training centres. Or do you want to run the ISS yourself?" - he said.

Rogozin suggested reminding US President Joe Biden that the ISS orbit correction and its avoidance of dangerous approaches to space debris is done exclusively by the engines of the Russian Progress MS cargo spacecraft.

"If you block cooperation with us, who will save the ISS from an uncontrollable descent from orbit and falling on US or European territory? There is also a variant of falling of a 500-ton structure on India and China. Do you want to threaten them with such a prospect? The ISS does not fly over Russia, so all the risks are yours. Are you ready for them?" - he wrote.

As the US President said earlier, new sanctions against Russia will affect Russia's space programme.
