Ronaldo breaks two records to give Portugal victory

The Portuguese national soccer team scored a major victory over Qatar in a friendly match.

 

The meeting, held in Faro Lula (Portugal), ended with a score of 3-0. Cristiano Ronaldo (37th minute), Jose Fonte (48th) and Andre Silva (90th) scored the goals for the winners.

 

It was Ronaldo's 181st appearance for the national team. Manchester United forward Ronaldo has broken the European record for appearances for the national team, surpassing Spanish defender Sergio Ramos (180).

 

The world record belongs to former Malaysian national team defender So Chin Aung who managed 195 matches from 1969 to 1984.

 

In 181 matches for the Portuguese national team, Ronaldo scored 112 goals and gave 41 assists. Thus the forward broke the world record for goals for the national team. He has ten goals in the national team in 2021.

 

In addition, Qatar became the 46th country to which Ronaldo scored in national team games. No player has ever scored for such a number of national teams.

 

As a reminder, Ronaldo won European Championship gold in 2016, Euro 2012 bronze and Euro 2004 silver with the Portuguese national team, he also won the UEFA League of Nations in 2019.
