Rupert Murdoch To Marry For The Fifth Time After Engaging To Ann Lesley Smith

Rupert Murdoch has proposed to his girlfriend, Ann Lesley Smith (66), whom he met in September. "I was scared to fall in love." This was going to be the last time. Murdoch admitted to being nervous when he proposed to Smith, 66. So stated the 92-year-old media mogul on Monday in the New York Post.

Keith Rupert Murdoch is an American-born Australian businessman, investor, and magnate who is the executive director and main shareholder of Fox News, which owns The Sun and The Times. Murdoch has had four marriages. His first marriage was to Patricia Booker in 1956; they have a daughter together, Prudence Murdoch. They split up in 1962. Murdoch has not made any public comments regarding the union, therefore little is known about it. In the same year, he married Anna Maria Torv, an employee and the aunt of Australian actress Anna Torv.

Murdoch married Wendi Deng on June 25, 1999, 17 days after divorcing his second wife. He divorced her in 2013, and they had two children together, Grace (born in 2001) and Chloe (born in 2003). On March 5, 2016, at the age of 84, he married American model Jerry Hall, who was 25 years younger. She separated with Hall on June 22, 2022.  Lachlan, Rupert's eldest son, spent some time working for his dad at both News Corporation and the New York Post. Lachlan resigned his job at his father's store in 2005. James is the sole son and is currently actively involved in his father's business as a result. In an effort to eventually manage Rupert's businesses, Murdoch's different stepbrothers and ex-wives have some conflict with one another.

He is the founder of News Corporation, one of the biggest media businesses in the world, and was born in Australia. His business was split up and partially sold, and he is now a citizen of the United States, but he still maintains a major stake in the English news and entertainment sectors. Two aspects of his business career have remained constant throughout his life: his propensity to use the media to advance his political agendas and the numerous legal cases he has been involved in, where he has been accused of everything from engaging in monopolistic behavior to funneling the profits from their businesses through tax havens.

He had to deal with a number of accusations in July 2011 over his businesses, notably the News of the World, which is owned by News Corporation, for tapping the phones of various royalty, celebrities, and commoners. He was the subject of FBI inquiries in the United States and police and government probes into bribery and corruption in the United Kingdom. He left his position as director of News International on July 21, 2012.
