The average time a man can maintain intercourse without ejaculating is seven minutes, according to one study that measured the performances of 1,587 men. Men with premature ejaculation, a diagnosable condition, have an average ejaculation time of two minutes. "Though not all men seeking increased stamina will be diagnosed with [premature ejaculation], the treatment options are largely the same," says Dr. Christopher Asandra, chief medical officer at NuMale Medical Center.
Which ones are worthwhile, and which aren't?
1. Biofeedback
Biofeedback is a technique that trains the mind to control the body more effectively. You may be able to better control your ejaculation by becoming more in tune with the triggers that cause you to ejaculate too early. According to Dr. Philip Werthman, director of the Center for Male Reproductive Medicine and Vasectomy Reversal in Los Angeles, CA, this is a viable option for some men.
2. Medicines
According to Asandra, antidepressant medications known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) can sometimes be used to treat premature ejaculation.
“SSRIs, such as Prozac, Paxil, and Zoloft, can delay orgasm in men, but they can also cause problems," he says. "These drugs take hours to work and can occasionally cause unwanted side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, erectile dysfunction, and decreased libido."
3. Exercises for the Pelvis
Asandra believes that Kegel exercises can benefit men just as much as they do women. They do, however, necessitate a consistent commitment. They work by increasing the strength of the pubococcygeus muscle.
"Do Kegel exercises by flexing the same muscle you'd use to stop the flow of urine," he says. "Clench for 10 seconds, then release, aiming for at least three sets of 10 reps per day."

4. Desensitizers
Desensitizing creams and gels are used to reduce the sensations in a man's penis. However, the majority of these creams also desensitize his partner's tissues. Asandra recommends a product called Promescent that absorbs well enough so that your partner is not affected.
5. Circumcision of Adults
Adult circumcision, or the removal of the foreskin, is a somewhat dramatic solution. Circumcision has the potential to desensitize the penis. However, if not done correctly, it may backfire. Incomplete circumcision, according to a 2011 studyTrusted Source, can actually cause premature ejaculation.
6. Gaining Weight
According to Trusted Source, men with a higher body mass index (BMI) slept longer than those with lower body fat and weight. According to the study, as BMI increased, the number of people with premature ejaculation decreased. Overweight people lasted an average of 7.3 minutes. But don't go out and buy some pizza and beer just yet... This study had a sample size of 200 men and relied on self-reporting. Not to mention....
