A year ago Crunchyroll and Adult Swim announced an animated series based on Shenmue. And now they're finally ready to show the first trailer.
Ryo witnesses the murder of his father. Wanting revenge, Ryo traines to become a master of martial arts. But it's not all that easy - in his search for the murderer, passing among other things through Hong Kong and Japan, he discovers that mystical forces are involved in what happened.
The adaptation is directed by Chikara Sakurai (Chikara Sakurai; season two of Wanpunchman, In Search of the Divine Recipe) and executive produced by Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki.
Shenmue the Animation will be released in 2022. Thirteen episodes are planned.
