Soccer. 13-year-old forward Axel Kaye became the youngest player to play for an American professional sports team

Real Salt Lake City Academy forward Axel Kaye became the youngest player to play for a professional American sports team.

Kay took part in the Real Monarchs (Real Salt Lake City's reserve team) match against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks in the USL Championship (the second tier of soccer leagues in the United States after MLS). Axel was 13 years 9 months and 9 days old when he took the field in the second half.

Kay may become the youngest player to sign a professional contract with an MLS club. The record belongs to Freddy Ada, who joined DC United in 2004 at the age of 14 years and 168 days.
