Smartphones will feature game consoles

Future Samsung smartphones will receive support for ray tracing. This is reported by GSM Arena.

According to the company's message in the Chinese social network Weibo, the future chip Exynos 2200 with AMD RDNA 2 graphics will support ray tracing. This technology builds the image of three-dimensional models to achieve better graphics display in games. This option is available on next-generation gaming computers and consoles.

The graphics processor will also support shading at a variable rate, which allows it to display some objects with higher quality. However, ray tracing requires a lot of computing resources, so its activation in games requires hardware support.

RDNA 2 integrated graphics is used in Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X consoles, Tesla cars and other hardware. The new processor is expected to have eight cores and the graphics system will have six processing units with 384 stream processors. The chip could appear in Samsung smartphones in 2022.

In February, insiders said AMD would release a graphics processor for Samsung smartphones. The chip will focus on next-generation games running on the Korean manufacturer's phones.
