Some tips to reduce your daily expenses (part 2)

Write down all your expenses

How many times have you exchanged $ 1 or £ 1 for something and thought, "Oh, this is only a dollar" and then repeated the same process every day for a month?  Keep track of where you spend your pennies and write down everything you spend for a month - you can see where to cut costs in the future.  Trust me, it really works.

2. Cut out takeaway coffees: Take a good flask and make your own coffee.  If you're serious about cutting back on your expenses and you're still buying a takeaway coffee in the morning, buying a flask will save you at least $ 80 a month.

3. Cycle or walk to work: I know many of you will have long distance train or car trips, but 10km can still be done by bike, right?  If you're a little lazy, invest in an electric bike to help you climb those hills in the morning.  Leaving a train or car for a bike is a serious money saver;  Plus, you're fitting in at the same time!.

4. Take your own lunch to work: Yes, it will take a few extra minutes in your evening, but would you not rather buy an extra $ 100 at the end of each month?  It's worth over $ 1,000 a year.

5. Cook your food in bulk: Set aside a few hours on Sunday and make different dishes to prepare yourself for the whole week.  Pop them in the freezer and you will not be tempted by midweek takeaways or packaged foods.

 6. Compare the price of gas and electricity: Do you get a really good deal with your gas and electricity?  It only takes a few minutes to compare deals on an online comparison site.

7. Buy at thrift stores (at least occasionally): You can get designer items for pennies;  You can find an inexpensive tattoo, recycle it for something else, and find one-of-a-kind clothing you will never find on High Street.  So, if you want to update your wardrobe or buy new furniture for your home, check out the cheaper alternatives first.

  8. Buy unbranded products in supermarkets : You only save a penny for each item, but there is no big difference in taste - do not be fooled by dear branding!  The only difference, for example, in unbranded canned tomatoes and branded tomatoes, is the lack of salt and sugar, which you can add yourself.  Why pay extra for it?
