Starbucks changes their icecubes

In May, CNN examined the revamping of Starbucks ice cubes for the summer. You usually enjoy the cold flat surfaced ice cubes in your cold drinks but now you can expect them to be larger in your cold drinks.

It was announced last week, that a typical refresher drink that is not diluted with water will cost more because of the extra ingredients it requires. However, this summer expect more in your cup with less ice and water usage. Refreshers are the chain's popular line of non-coffee beverages, which are served cold with flavored juices and dried fruit chunks, plus milk, water or lemonade Starbucks stated that the new ice machines use less water and will be distributed to all of its stores within the next couple of years.

Starbucks is revamping a few of its drinks for the summer. Last week, it announced that a Refresher drink that is not diluted with water will cost an additional $1 because the company said it "requires extra ingredients." New Starbucks CEO Laxman sets room for improving the business, which includes installation of new equipment. Starbucks goal is to cut back their usage of water in half by 2030.

"There is more work to do to tailor our stores on the demand that we see, advance our technology, enhance how we innovate our equipment and also more fundamentally, how we get back to focusing on fundamental operations and executing better," CEO Narasimhan stated earlier this month in an earnings call.

Starbucks is setting goals to update their equipment and quality of ice cubes for their cold drinks. Their equipment can expect to update within the next 10 years with availability to new ice cubes machines that uses less water usage. The focus is to upgrade equipment for better quality in their refreshers and cold drinks, which tend to be the most popular in their stores. 

So what can Starbucks customers expect this summer...? New and improved ice cubes to compliment their refreshers and ice coffees, less water usage, and better quality. The goal is to increase sales due to the high demand of fruit chunks that go into refreshers. Which includes their strawberry and dragon fruit chunks. 

Starbucks square transparent ice is now supposedly upgrading to nugget ice, with expectations to up charge their customers for no ice, or extra added ice. The world's most fancy restaurant is now more contemporary and the upcharges may be a myth but in some stores made the upcharge update starting May 9th, 2023. There is now signage in some stores that informs daily customers of this upcharge. 

Will their new and updated pellet ice cubes improve the quality of their cold drinks and refreshers or is it just merely a small adjustment for the company's savings. Starbucks customers can expect larger cubes in their cold drinks.
