Statue of a Clown

     A girl, when she was in college, was forced to work as a part-time nanny for a wealthy family. 

     The rich family had a very large house with many rooms. It was filled with many artifacts and antique jewelry from all over the world.   

     When the parents were going out, the father of the family, told the girl that after she put the children to bed, she should go down to the basement and watch TV there, not wander around the house.  

     As soon as the children fell asleep, the girl did just that. She went down to the basement room to watch television.  

     However, there was no way she could concentrate on the show because there was a life-sized statue of a clown in the corner of the room, with a goofy smile on his face.   

      Eventually she decided to cover the statue with a blanket to ignore it.   

      She calmed down a bit, but after a while, the feeling of unease, came again. She looked at the statue covered by the blanket and saw the clown's huge shoes sticking out from under the blanket. The boots made her feel strange, like there was someone else in the room.  

      She decided to call the head of the family, and ask his permission, to watch TV in the other room, because the giant clown statue in the basement room frightened her.  

- Listen very carefully," the man told the girl.  Our kids were complaining about a clown coming into their room in the middle of the night.   We just thought it was a nightmare. We don't have a statue of a clown. You have to get the kids and get out of the house right now! I'm calling the police right now.  

      The girl hung up the phone, turned around to look at the clown statue covered, but there was only a blanket on the floor!   

She hears footsteps coming down the stairs to the basement.
