According to Ayurveda, your stomach should not be heavy in the morning.  Fuel is needed to keep the body active.  Drinking heavy milk can cause stomach pain or heartburn.  Therefore, at this time of the day, fruits or cooked vegetables, or oat porridge mixed with a little milk, should be consumed.  You can also drink milk with almonds.  Doing this helps your body to function well throughout the day.

It is best to drink milk at night when your body needs rest.  Tryptophan, an amino acid found in milk, improves the quality of your sleep and helps you sleep longer.  It helps your body make serotonin and melatonin (neurotransmitters) that control the body's sleep and wake cycles.  Calcium in milk also helps in increasing serotonin levels in the body, while melatonin helps fight insomnia or sleep disorders due to stress or any other reason.  Magnesium in milk is also another reason to drink milk at night.  Magnesium helps your nerves and muscles function normally, both of which are essential for a good night's sleep and rest.  Therefore, drinking milk half an hour before sleeping at night is very beneficial.  Sleeping with milk at night will help you have a regular routine that will balance the energies or all the three doshas as mentioned in Ayurveda and this balance will improve your overall health and vitality.

If you add turmeric to your milk, you will benefit even more due to the anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties of turmeric.  So you will be able to sleep easily because by drinking turmeric milk, if you have a headache due to pain, swelling or whole day's work in your body, then you will get rid of all these problems too.  Along with this, people who are suffering from diseases like arthritis, they will also get a lot of relief.
