The economy of war: Russia's losses, Ukraine's billions in losses, can we live without money? Interview with Milovanov

Every day we count every downed plane, every downed tank. Today, the guest of my author's program "Orestocracy" is Timofey Mylovanov, he is the head of the Kiev School of Economics and the chairman of the supervisory board of the Ukroboronprom concern. - Good afternoon!  – What can be said today about Russia's losses in Ukraine? Can we translate from a quantitative figure into a value one?  – We can give estimates, but even estimates can be made regarding the final cost and the cost of restoration. We take a tank or an armored car, which, relatively speaking, can cost a million dollars or five, right? Or even 15 if we are talking about the latest things. Here it is completely lost - it was torn apart. It is not very important what number we put in the column, how many of these machines were destroyed. What is important is how many new such machines Russia needs to supply. To keep them fighting.

Now about expenses. Perhaps the Russians also have used cars, they can adapt them. The most important costs are not measured in money, but in whether they have the opportunity to obtain these critical components. For example, if these are high-tech weapons, then the most important thing is that China does not start supplying them.  International experts have confirmed that they have lost 1,300-1,400 vehicles. This is several times less than we give. We give four or five times more. Because international experts record only cases where there is a video or photo. But even they note that Russia's losses are five to six times greater than ours. If ours, as they claim, are 200-300 units of equipment ...
