Mirror: one of the causes of hair loss is a lack of vitamin D

Experts have named the main causes of hair loss and ways to solve the problem. The material is published by the Mirror.

According to the publication, the lack of vitamin D is one of the most common causes of hair loss in men and women, especially in winter. It is believed that just 30 minutes of sunlight a day or 10 micrograms of vitamin D can boost immunity, strengthen bones and maintain healthy hair.

Karl Kristian, founder of the Scandinavian hair care brand New Nordic, explained that people should make up for vitamin deficiencies through foods or supplements. "When the body lacks vitamin D, the keratinocytes in the hair follicles cannot regulate hair growth and loss. So you have to make more of an effort to restore it," he explained.

According to the expert, consumption of foods such as fatty fish, red meat, eggs (especially yolks) can help increase vitamin D levels in the body. In addition, he advised to massage the scalp during the shower. Christian stressed that this helps to cleanse it of grease and dead cells, and stimulates hair growth.

At the same time, it is noted that hair loss can be associated with a deficiency of vitamin B12, which is usually found in animal products. Often hair becomes brittle due to a lack of protein in the diet. A diet consisting of lean meat, eggs, fish, lean cheese, quinoa, nuts, and tofu helps eliminate protein deficiency. For those who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet, supplementation with B12 supplements is recommended.

In February, experts revealed an effective way to achieve thick hair. A specialist from the medical portal Superdrug, whose name was not given, emphasized: "Hair is 99 percent protein, so it needs enough amino acids and proteins for good health."
