The unique "Triangle" method will help you use English prepositions correctly

English prepositions are a headache for both students and teachers and bring confusion to the educational process. In addition, endless exceptions to the rules of the English language are adding fuel to the fire. Today I will tell you about the so-called "Triangle" method, which will help you use prepositions of the English language correctly.

In fact, everything is very simple. In order to remember how to use this or that preposition, use the image of a triangle in your head. Each of the prepositions AT, ON, IN is enclosed in its own part of the triangle. The area of each part corresponds to the size of the time interval when this preposition is used. The smaller the area, the smaller the time interval!

So, as you can see, the preposition "AT" is visually enclosed in a figure located at the very top of the "triangle", and therefore having the smallest area, which indicates a short period of time. Therefore, it is easy to remember that the preposition "AT" must be used:

· with exact time (at 6 o'clock);

· with words indicating the exact time ((at midnight (midnight = 00:00)).

The preposition "ON" is used with longer periods, usually 1 day long:

· days of the week (on Monday);

· exact date (on the 2 of May 2).

The preposition "IN", respectively, we will use when it comes to long periods of time:

· months (in June);

· seasons (in winter);

· years (in 2021).

One of the exceptions to the rule: the preposition "IN" is used to describe the time of the day: in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening, but at night (that's how it is).
