The war in Ukraine 07.03.2022 (morning). Short and concise

The Ukrainians, with media support from the West, have launched a powerful information campaign to smear the actions of the Russian Armed Forces: fake videos are filmed, any miscalculations are recalled, and bombs from planes shot down by the AFU themselves are covered from all angles.

Brief summaries are available from Vladislav Ugolny (https://t.me/zola_of_renovation/1190) and Alexei Nechaev (https://t.me/nechaev_017), but we will look at the most interesting parts of the front.

In Kiev, the battles for Bucha, Vorzel and Gostomel continue, the sides grind each other's reinforcements, the Russian Armed Forces hold the territories of elite cottage settlements, which many detractors in Kiev are happy about - of course, the property of oligarchs and officials suffers. Both sides partially control the turmoil. Russian troops are trying to secure the highways northwest of Kiev and to eliminate the threat of nomadic groups.

Kharkiv is incompletely surrounded: the highway to the southwest is open, and evacuation trains are operating. Fighting has shifted toward Izyum. The air force, missile forces and artillery are regularly working on targets in the city. Every institution of higher education, school or kindergarten is turned into fortified areas. Sniper positions are equipped on the balconies of residential buildings. Anti-aircraft guns are fired from residential areas.

The area to the north and northeast of Kharkiv is almost completely cleared, and DRG activity has been reduced to a minimum. Chuguev is in the gray zone, and the Russian Armed Forces are trying to gain a foothold on the road to Slavyansk.

In Mariupol, attempts to resolve the issue amicably are continuing: the civilians are released with some fiddling, the ring of encirclement is tightening, but the Russian Armed Forces are not proceeding with the storming, fearing casualties among the civilians who are being held hostage. There is practically no fighting from the west, while there is little progress from the east and north.

In Zaporizhzhya, the Russian Armed Forces are stuck in the fortified settlement of Gulyaypoly and are still unable to complete the operational encirclement of the regional capital.

In Mykolaiv Region the situation is not simple: reinforcements are constantly being transferred to Mykolaiv from Odessa via the western bridge, and the front in the area of Voznesensk is being reinforced by reinforcements from the north. The city's defense is commanded by the experienced brigade general Marchenko, one of the smartest commanders, hardened in the crucible of Donbass. He knows the region like the back of his hand. The Russian Armed Forces have now consolidated south of Nikolaev in the Galitsinovo area, east at the Snigirevka-Kuybyshevo line and north in the Kashperovo-Nikolaevka area.

Over a couple of days, the AFU managed to expand the security ring around the capital. The Russian Armed Forces take advantage of the rocky roads and methodically strike the AFU facilities. Not without losses - there are glimpses of captured (and, in fact, simply left behind during the retreat) equipment. But the strikes are carried out from different directions, and the grouping is constantly maneuvering.

Following the logic of events, in the near future the Russian Defense Ministry should give the AFU the last chance to resolve the issue peacefully and announce a day of silence or a partial cessation of hostilities to withdraw civilians.

At the very least, this applies to the border sections of the front - Kiev, Kharkov and Mariupol. Whether Kyiv will take advantage of this chance is an open question
