The world's most expensive dog

One of the red Tibetan Mastiff puppies is now officially the most expensive dog on the planet. This came just after he was sold for $1.5 million.
Tibetan Mastiffs are some of the oldest watchdogs. The breed is notable for its impressive size and increased aggressiveness. People domesticated them many centuries ago, these dogs have been guarding Tibetan monasteries and following nomads for centuries. There is even a legend that the owners of Tibetan mastiffs were Genghis Khan and Buddha.
The popularity of the breed in the last few years has increased significantly. Now these dogs are very popular among the rich people all over China. The breed, by the way, is considered indigenous to China, as outside of Tibet there are simply no such dogs. The exclusivity of the breed has spurred an increase in prices. Just think about it, just five years ago you could buy a puppy for only 5 thousand yuan, and now the dog can cost several million.
A puppy named Hong Dong was sold at the age of 11 months. At that time, Hong Dong had reached one meter in height at the withers and weighed about 80 kilograms. The dog breeder, Lu Liang, said that he always knew that this puppy had perfect genes and would give excellent offspring, but he had no idea how much he would be paid for it.
The Chinese did not disclose information about who exactly purchased the dog, paying $1.5 million for it, but there are reports that one of the billionaires from the north of the country did. Lu Liang himself says that the offspring of this puppy will be worth even more, so all the investment is one hundred percent justified. A lot of money was also spent to raise the dog. The fact is that the puppy was fed exclusively on poultry and beef, as well as exotic delicacies that most of the population of the Middle Kingdom cannot afford.
The record value was officially recorded by a representative of the Guinness Book of Records and entered in the general database. It remains only to recall that before the most expensive dog in the world was another puppy of this breed, which in 2009 was sold for 610 thousand dollars.
