These 6 Companies Joined in Building the Metaverse to change the world

Facebook has changed its name to Meta Platforms to change the world. The move follows a number of popular technology companies reported to have taken part in helping build the Metaverse.

Metaverse is a digital reality that combines aspects of social media, gaming, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and cryptocurrency that allows users to interact virtually. The term Metaverse was coined by science fiction writer Neal Stephenson as a metaphor for the real world, the embodiment of from the internet, and escape from reality. From that concept, Facebook (Meta) became one of the companies that took part in creating the Metaverse. Apart from Facebook, there are other companies that participate in Metaverse. Here are six well-known companies that have started to focus on the Metaverse system:

1. Facebook (Meta)

By changing the Facebook name to Meta, they are ready to become Metaverse initiators. Facebook has also introduced its initial version, Horizon World. Now Facebook is preparing various technologies that can support the Metaverse such as VR Messaging, Project Cambria, and Horizon Marketplace.

2. Google

Google will start Metaverse by developing the Google Glass product. In 2021, Google has developed VR and AR devices through the Starline project.

3. Tencent

Tencent has platforms namely WeChat and Tencent QQ that will support the development of the Metaverse. Tencent QQ has e-commerce, movies, music, voice chat and gaming while WeChat has a mobile payment system.

4. Epic Games

Epic Games is one of the game companies preparing to build the Metaverse. Epic Games has announced publicly that it will fund $1 billion to build the Metaverse.

5. Microsoft

Microsoft started its steps in the Metaverse by introducing Mesh for Teams which can be used for presentations, meetings and chat via avatars without having to meet in person. Even one of the games belonging to Epic Games has carried the Metaverse theme, namely Fortnite, which now has 350 million registered players. Epic Games develops VR, AR and 3D content to make it more accessible.

Binance is a company that can support financial transactions in the Metaverse such as the Binance NFT Marketplace which is useful for trading NFT assets from various blockchains.
