TikTok: what is known about it and what is the reason for its popularity

In 2019, there seems to be no one left who hasn't heard of TikTok, an app that has successfully combined the features of Instagram, Snapchat, and the defunct Vine. It made a splash in 2018, gaining huge popularity among teenagers in the U.S., and then it was talked about all over the world.
