This list of the top 10 richest people in the world is based on Forbes' annual ranking of billionaires. The list was last updated in 2019, and includes some familiar names such as Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. Of course, there are plenty of other billionaires who aren't quite as well-known as these three heavyweights—but if you've ever wondered who's worth billions or even trillions of dollars (yes, trillions), then we're about to tell you.

Elon Musk is a South African-born American entrepreneur who is the founder, CEO and CTO of SpaceX, as well as the co-founder and CEO of Tesla Inc., and Neuralink.

 

Elon Musk was born in Pretoria, South Africa on June 28th 1971. He attended primary school at Bryanston School before moving to Canada in 1989 to attend Queen's University in Kingston where he studied economics and physics. After graduating from university with degrees in both subjects, he moved back to California in 1995 where he started Zip2 – an online advertising company which was later acquired by Compaq for $307 million!

 

In 1999 he founded X.com which eventually merged with Confinity (who owned PayPal) resulting directly before being acquired by eBay for $1.5 billion – which made Elon Musk one of the richest men alive at that time!

In addition to his fortune, he owns several homes around the world including houses in Beverly Hills and Washington DC as well as private jets and helicopters. On top of all that, he owns an entire island near Seattle called "Bezos Family Island."

 

Jeff married MacKenzie Bezos in 1993 after meeting at work while they were both working for D.E Shaw & Co., an investment management firm based in New York City. She is also an author who wrote The Testing Of Luther Albright (2002). Gautam Adani is an Indian businessman, who is the founder and chairman of the Adani Group. He has a net worth of $9.9 billion (as of May 2019).

 

Adani was born in 1963 and went to school at Mahatma Gandhi High School and St Stephen's College in Mumbai before moving to Gujarat University for his bachelor's degree. He then graduated from Manchester University with a degree in economics before starting work as a management trainee at Tata Steel Limited in Jamshedpur, India. He worked there for five years before joining his family business, which involved importing products such as textiles and spices into India from Europe.

Bill Gates is known for his philanthropy, which he began in 2000 when he started giving away large sums of money to causes such as education and healthcare. He also founded The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which aims to improve global health by eradicating disease and poverty around the world.

 

Bill is also an inspiration to many businessmen as an example of great leadership; he managed to convince more than 80% of his employees that they should stay at Microsoft even though they could have made more money elsewhere

Warren Buffett, an American investor and businessman, is the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. Buffet was born in Omaha, Nebraska on 30 August 1930. He began buying shares in his grandfather's grocery store at the age of 11 and later took a job selling golf balls and stamps door-to-door. Upon graduating from high school he enrolled at the Wharton School of Business but transferred twice before graduating from University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1951 with a Bachelor's degree in economics.

 

Buffett then worked at Buffett-Falk & Co where he started as salesman making $200 per month before moving up to become an assistant manager earning $12,000 per year before leaving for New York City in 1954 where he started working for Graham Newman selling securities for Geyer Kosak & Co until 1956 when he moved back to Omaha to work under his father who had been appointed vice president by National American Insurance Company (NAIC). In 1959 Buffett established his own partnership specializing in undervalued stocks which led him receiving recognition as one of America's most successful investors over time

 

Larry Page

 

Page is an American computer scientist, internet entrepreneur, and philanthropist. Page is the co-founder of Google Inc., named Alphabet Inc. after its restructuring in 2015. He met Sergey Brin at Stanford University where both were Ph.D. candidates at Stanford University. Together they own about 16 percent of its shares but control 56 percent of the stockholder voting power through supervoting stock; they incorporated Google as a privately held company on September 4, 1998. Subsequent to its initial public offering (IPO) on August 19, 2004, Page moved from the President of Products Division to CEO.

 

Page is active in supporting scientific research through The Carl Victor Page Memorial Foundation; he sits on the boards of directors for Tesla Motors and SpaceX, as well as Jigsaw (formerly Google Ideas) which he cofounded with Jared Cohen; and he has invested considerable personal wealth into alternative energy companies such as SolarCity and TerraPower

His father was a mathematics professor and his mother was an engineer. His family arrived in the United States when he was six years old as refugees from anti-Semitism.

 

Brin graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with degrees in math and computer science. After graduation he joined Stanford University at age 20 where he met Larry Page who would later become his lifelong business partner as well as closest friend. The two entrepreneurs dropped out of college to start Google together in 1998 which has since developed into one of the largest companies in history with annual revenue over $100 billion dollars (USD).

 

At age 19 Brin created an early version of Google that focused on search engine technology but didn't provide any advertisements for its users; however, it wasn't until Sergey cofounded Google Inc alongside Larry Page that this idea became a reality!

 

Mukesh Ambani

 

Mukesh Ambani is the richest person in India, with a net worth of $55.3 billion. He is the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries Limited, which has a market capitalization of $45.5 billion. The conglomerate produces petrochemicals, oil refining and petroleum products, textiles and textile machinery; it has interests in telecommunications and financial services businesses as well.

 

The company was started by his father Dhirubhai Ambani with a plastics plant that had an initial capacity of 80 tons per day in 1966; today its Jamnagar refinery complex produces more than 1 million barrels per day (bpd).
