UGC New Rule: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has proposed to allow students who have completed four years of graduation course.
Now these students can complete PhD course.
Only those candidates who will clear FYUP will be considered eligible for doing Ph.D.
For this, students need to score at least 7.5 CGPA or above in FYUP.Students must have 7.5 CGPA in UGC New Rule
Let us tell you that CGPA is a kind of grade point on the basis of which the number is seen.
Earlier there used to be percentage instead of CGPA.
CGPA is measured on a total scale of 10.
That is, it is very important for students to have at least 7.5 CGPA marks to pass in the exam.
FYUP will get a boost in UGC New Rule
The UGC Regulations 2022 is likely to be released by the end of June and is expected to be implemented from the coming 2022 – 2023 academic session.
The central government has decided to promote FYUP under the National Education Policy (NEP).
According to the NEP rules, students who are interested in pursuing PhD after 4 years of bachelor's degree.
Those students should have 7.5 CGPA Marks.
Whereas SC, ST, OBC and handicapped students will get 0.5 CGPA relaxation.
There should be 7 CGPA Marks for these.
UGC New Rule will now have four years of graduation
The UGC New Rule encourages four-year graduates to pursue PhD in order to boost the research ecosystem at HEI.
In view of this, we are permitting those students to do PhD, who have 7.5 CGPA or more marks.
Those students who have less than 7.5 CGPA marks, those students will have to do PhD after doing one year master's degree.
40% seats in UGC New Rule will be filled through test
As per the new rules of UGC, 40% of the vacant seats will be filled on the basis of university level entrance test.
Apart from this, it has been said to fill the seats in two ways.
In this, a 100% seat can be filled on the basis of National Level Entrance Test.
The second is filled in the ratio of 60:40.
If the vacant seats are filled by National Level Test.
So such students will be selected on the basis of merit list.
The weightage of Interview and Viva Test will be 100%.
These topics will remain in UGC New Rule
The syllabus of the first three semesters of UG courses will consist of general courses like Language, Understanding India, Environmental Science, Digital and Technological Solutions, Mathematical and Computational Thinking and Analysis, Health and Wellness, Yoga, etc.
There should be introductory courses in sports and fitness and humanities, natural and social sciences.
After the third semester students will declare a major and two minors to specialise.
