After the Local Government Elections there's lot changes that might be overcome due to hung council in more than 66 municipality in South Africa.
Theoutcome of the past local government election has been one of the tough poll especially to governing party due to bad turnout of South African.Umdoni Municipality is one the major Municipality led by African National Congress.The ANC in Umdoni has less 42% which indicates now that have to form coalition with other political parties.
Sincethis month November 2021, Umdoni municipality’s operations have been under the command of the newly appointed Municipal Manager (MM), Mrs Thabisile Cornelia Ndlela.
MMNdlela signed a year-long service delivery implementationj newly appointed MM boasts over a decade of experience in senior management under local government.
She has served in the same post at Umkhambathini local municipality for a tenure of 5 years. She also worked as a General Manager Internal Audit at Umgeni local municipality for 6 years and headed the Community Services Department at uMgungundlovu District Municipality.
Her education background in coalition with her work experience advocated for her appointment to the position of the Umdoni Accounting Officer.
MM Ndlela’s action plan in steering the municipality into the right direction involves the review of internal control systems, and those of governance structures which play a pivotal role in enhancing the performance of the municipality.
The MM has further commenced with the in-depth analysis of the municipal Integrated Development Plan in order to identify areas where the municipality is lagging behind and devise viable improvement measures. “Amongst these, one will also ensure the municipality’s financial health is guarded and strengthened,” said the MM.
She further placed emphasis on having a full staff compliment of senior managers which will ensure the municipality’s 100-day service delivery plan is brought into full existence.
The new MM is wished well in her responsibilities as the head of administration in Umdoni.
