The history of this word goes back to the ancient times of Paracelsus, when alchemists tried to artificially create a miniature, fully formed human being.
For the alchemists of the 16th and 18th centuries, the homunculus was as much of a challenge as the Philosopher's Stone. They believed that the very human being was already in the male semen, and if it was placed in an "incubator" (for example, made of horse dung) for 40 days, exposed to a magnetic field or other tricks, then after a while the substance would take the form of a human body and begin to move. Gradually, the scientific community still disproved Paracelsus' assumptions, and this silly idea of creating a homunculus fell into oblivion.
However, literature gave a second life to the homunculus when it appeared in the second part of Goethe's Faust in the form of a small luminous creature embodying the idea of the infinite pursuit of life and beauty. Then the word "homunculus" again became widely known.
Today any schoolboy can prove from a biology textbook that it is impossible to grow a homunculus. But despite this, you can still find many articles and videos on the Internet about how exactly to grow a homunculus. The options of "containers" are quite different - from a chicken egg to an acorn.
Thank you all for your attention to my publications, I hope you liked it, come again.
Sincerely Eduard!
