WHAT IS THE QUR'AN ? AND HISTORY OF THE QUR'AN.

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, my dear brother/sister. May peace and blessings be upon you.

The history of the Qur'an is a rich and profound journey that spans over 1,400 years. The Qur'an is the sacred scripture of Islam, revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by Allah through the Angel Gabriel over a period of 23 years.

The revelation of the Qur'an began in the year 610 CE when the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) received the first verses of Surah Al-Alaq. The revelations continued intermittently until the year 632 CE, when the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) passed away. Throughout this period, the Qur'an was revealed in stages, addressing the various needs and circumstances of the Muslim community at the time.

After the passing of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), the task of compiling the Qur'an into a single, unified book was undertaken during the caliphate of Abu Bakr(R.A) , the first caliph of Islam. This compilation was completed under the leadership of the second caliph, Umar ibn al-Khattab (R.A), and the third caliph, Uthman ibn Affan (R.A).

The process of compilation involved gathering the various written and oral revelations of the Qur'an and organizing them into a coherent and standardized format. The companions of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) who had memorized the Qur'an played a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and preservation of the text.

The Qur'an has been preserved in its original Arabic language since the time of its revelation, with millions of Muslims around the world memorizing the entire text. The Qur'an is considered the ultimate source of guidance for Muslims, providing spiritual, moral, and legal guidance for all aspects of life.
