The creator of bitcoin can be considered a scientist Nick Szabo, a specialist in the field of cryptography, said the head of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk. He revealed the identity of the possible author of the idea during an interview on Lex Friedman's podcast, refuting rumors that he himself was behind bitcoin.
"Look at the evolution of ideas before bitcoin was launched. I don't know exactly who created bitcoin for practical purposes, of course, but the evolution of ideas is pretty clear," Musk noted, pointing out that it was Szabo who helped develop those ideas in large part.
The suggestion that Musk created bitcoin was made by former SpaceX and Tesla employee Sahil Gupta. He has been making this hypothesis for several years now: back in 2017, his blog post stated that Musk was Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of bitcoin. Then the businessman already denied Gupta's hypothesis in his Twitter.
But in late December of this year, Gupta wrote another post recounting a phone conversation with Sam Teller, who was then in charge of human resources at Musk's companies. "As the conversation was winding down, I asked: "Is Elon the Satoshi?" There was silence for 15 seconds, and then Teller said, "Well, what can I say?" That's not a paraphrase, that's what he said. Then I said, "Wow," and there was an awkward silence. We said goodbye, and the conversation ended there."
The hypothesis that Sabo is behind the world's most popular cryptocurrency has also been discussed for years. Behind the name Satoshi Nakamoto, it is speculated, could also be a group of programmers.
