Why Cybercrime in the world

The rate of cybercrime has been very rampant nowadays in the world. This has to do with cyber terrorism which comprises: copyright violation, fraud, malware, phishing, denial of service, cross site scripting and so forth.

Cybercrime is the act of committing criminal offence or violating the law by breaking into people’s accounts in a form of stealing and obtaining private information through the use of internet computer desk, laptop and mobile devices.

This evil act is being perpetuated by fraudsters whose aim is to defraud innocent people.

This could have direct or indirect effect on the victims and even causes damages to their websites.

Many youths have developed the habit of indulging in such criminal activities. They have even abandoned their studies in order to make quick money by all means.

They are no longer interested to work and become useful in the society. They rather prefer to engage in this kind of dubious and fraudulent act.

It is quite unfortunate that many banking institutions, companies, corporate body and individuals have lost billions of dollars to cyber fraud over the years.

Many countries in the world which include: Nigeria, USA, Canada, Norway, Australia, London, among others have become a concern to its government.

According to CNN.com, a Nigerian Instagram influencer, Abbas Olorunwa Ramon popularly known as Hushpuppi and his gang were recently arrested in Dubai due to multiple of fraud committed in various parts of the world.

They specialized in hacking email and send fictitious message to the company client email account they have hacked to redirect financial transaction and bank details to their own accounts.

They have succeeded in defrauding many individuals, companies and so forth.

I therefore suggest that, as technology is advancing, there is a need to introduce new software programs into the system, which are well protected.

This will go a long way to prevent hackers from stealing and accessing people’s information.

The government should also take it as a matter of seriousness to monitor the system and punish any individual who involves in such criminal act. This will definitely serve as a deterrent to others in the society.
