Why there is no hiding place for lecturers in Nigeria tertiary institutions

The way and manner that a lot of academic staff in government established tertiary institutions in Nigeria have been collecting bribery and forcefully selling their textbooks to students, does not speak well of them at all.

Most of these lecturers have agents that help them to carry out such unwholesome practices.

It is quite unfortunate that some students who perform poorly in the examination hall, but doesn't have good rapport with their lecturers, can decide to pass through their agents and pay a certain amount of money to inflate their scores.

The issue of bribing some lecturers in exchange for scores is not the best way.

They are not helping the students but killing their academic career. When such students graduate from the institution, they may find it difficult to defend their result.

However, many lecturers have imbibed the spirit of forcefully selling their textbooks to students. They have made it compulsory in such a way that any student who refuses to buy it, will be given carryover no matter what he or she must have written in the examination hall. As a result of this, the students might be force to borrow money and get a copy of it in order to avoid the wrath of their lecturers.

It is crystal clear that the way most lecturers have been treating their students badly in the tertiary institution is worrisome and uncalled for.

I recently read from the national dailies where some male lecturers had failed some female students who refuses to accept their sexual advances. It is so shameful and disgusting.

According to guardian.ng, randy lecturers have taken advantage of the female students academic weaknesses to abuse them sexually.

As a student, if you know that you perform very well in the examination hall, and the lecturer failed you because you refuses to buy his textbook or turn down his sexual advances.

It is advisable to report such erring lecturer to the school authority for disciplinary action.

The students should also take their studies seriously so as to avoid seeking favour from their lecturers in the institution.

This is the only way to deal with any erring academic staff that do otherwise.
