6 tips for a healthy barbecue without remorse

Barbecue is a very popular summer activity, where we always like to meet family and friends. All you have to do is smell the meat on the grill and we are already running slinky. No wonder, as the food prepared in this way is extremely tasty.

However, it is true and no one is surprised that this way of preparing food is not one of the healthiest. If you follow a few principles, you can enjoy it without remorse, but also without health problems.

1. It depends on the grill

You too are among the loyal supporters of charcoal grilling due to its specific taste. If you want to indulge in a healthier grill, it's time to exchange it for gas or contact one. When grilling on conventional charcoal, there is a risk of high temperatures. They are more difficult to regulate and the meat can come into contact with fire more easily and burn, creating carcinogens. The principle is that food should not come into direct contact with fire.

The recent trend is grilling on stone or various grill plates, which prevent the meat from coming into contact with direct fire, as well as dripping oil or marinade directly into the fire.

2. Use drip trays

If you still decide to use a classic charcoal grill, make sure that the meat oil does not drip directly into the fire. Place it on trays specially designed for grilling. At the same time, they protect the meat from roasting on the grill and save you time with its cleaning.

They are essential if you have decided to marinate the meat beforehand. The marinade tends to drip into the fire and burn, creating carcinogens that are harmful to the body. Baked burnt meat contains a number of toxic and carcinogenic substances, which not only promote the development of cancer but also diseases of the colon or stomach.

3. Forget about sausages

Sausages, bacon, or bacon taste great, but if you are interested in health, you should avoid them. When choosing meat, you should reach for less fat, or cut off fat parts.

It is important to pay particular attention to the quality of the meat, whether it is beef, pork, or chicken. Fish and seafood are also healthy and very tasty choices. They are easier to digest and prepare quickly. Try visiting local fish sellers and buying them fresh.

4. Prepare a homemade marinade

In the shop, avoid the already marinated meat product. These often contain flavorings such as glutamates, and a lot of salt or are unnecessarily caloric. You can prepare a simple and much tastier marinade at home.

The marinade can taste meat, fish, and vegetables perfectly. In addition, the meat you load in the marinade for a few hours is more tender and thus shortens the time needed to prepare it. We always keep food loaded in the marinade in the refrigerator, preferably in the refrigerator.

The basis of a good marinade is quality olive oil and then we add spices according to our tastes and preferences. You can mix soy sauce, honey, lemon juice, mustard, chili pepper, and garlic, but also herbs such as rosemary, basil, or thyme. You will create an interesting taste by adding beer or wine. A pre-prepared barbecue spice is also a suitable choice. Don't be afraid to experiment and discover new interesting tastes.

In addition, herbs contain antioxidants and thus can mitigate the negative effects of carcinogens, possibly caused by grilling.

5. Use quality seasonings and spices

As with the choice of meat, it is necessary to pay particular attention to quality, so it is to choose the spices and seasonings. This is because they may contain glutamates, excessive amounts of salt, or other harmful ingredients.

Choose spices and flavors of organic quality. They will taste better, but you can be sure that they do not contain unwanted ingredients.

6. Replace the pastry with vegetables

Vegetables are a healthier and more easily digestible alternative to pastries. You can prepare it grilled or prepare a salad as a side dish. However, avoid heavy mayonnaise salad. Sour cream or white yogurt will serve as a good substitute for mayonnaise.

You can place mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, or corn on the grill. All you have to do is simply drizzle with a little oil, and season with salt and pepper, you can also use barbecue or herbs.

Skewers are also great food on the grill. You can make them out of any meat and combine them with your favorite vegetables.
