A very tasty American pie

Products

For the dough:

Flour - 450 g

Butter - 300 g

Ice water - 150 gr

Apples - 850 gr

Starch - 25 gr

Flour - 25 gr

Sugar - 150 gr

Lemon (juice) - 0,5 pcs.

Butter - 30 gr

Cinnamon ground - 0,5 tsp.

Nutmeg - 1 pinch

 

How to make an American apple pie:

 

Prepare the dough. In the bowl of a mixer, sift 450 grams of flour. Add to the flour one teaspoon of salt. To prepare the dough, use a special attachment.

 Cut into small cubes 300 grams of cold butter. Add the sliced butter to the flour.

Stir well until the butter is the size of peas. Without stopping, add 150 milliliters of ice water. Stir until a dough is formed.

Such dough can be made by hand. To do this, use a knife to chop the butter and flour until the butter is the size of peas. Add water and quickly knead the dough.

Wrap the finished dough in clingfilm and put it in the refrigerator for at least two hours.

Let's prepare the stuffing. Wash 850 grams of apples. Peel the apples from the skin and core. Cut the apples into slices about 0.5 cm thick. Put the sliced apples in a bowl.

Add a pinch of nutmeg, half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon, the juice of half a lemon, 150-170 grams of sugar, 25 grams of starch, 25 grams of flour, 30 grams of melted butter and mix everything well.

Take the prepared dough out of the fridge. Roll out 2/3 of the dough into a layer about three millimeters thick and 35-37 centimeters in diameter.

Place in a 26 centimetre round dish so that the dough extends 3 to 4 centimetres beyond the rim.

Roll out the rest of the dough into a three-millimeter-thick layer and cut into 2-3 centimeter-wide ribbons.

In the form with the dough, put the prepared filling and flatten it.

You can cover the pie with a solid layer of dough, but we will weave a basket of prepared ribbons. For convenience, we do it in two steps. We put three ribbons in a row, then weave them with cross ribbons and finish by weaving two more ribbons.

Trim off the excess ribbons, glue all the edges together, double up, and braid a rope, lifting it to the top of the pie. Brush the apple pie with egg.

Send it to a preheated 190-200 degrees Celsius oven. Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes, until it is ready. Take the finished apple pie out of the oven, let it cool a little and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Serve very tasty American apple pie with ice cream or with tea.
