Avoid viruses and be fit this fall

Get out of the useless cycle of nutritional supplements

Most often, we fight against autumn diseases by vaccination. However, that is not enough. There are many types of viruses and bacteria in the air, and it is impossible to vaccinate against all of them. In addition, vaccination does not help at all for the common cold. Vitamin C is still only one nutrient from the entire spectrum that our immunity needs for proper functioning. To function reliably, it must be built on strong foundations. The right strategy must be created above all by those who work with people: doctors, teachers, waiters, flight attendants, etc. So what can we do to avoid diseases this fall?

Don't grab your face

First the handle, then the steering wheel, the handrail on the escalator, the chair, the keyboard, the phone, and then we grab our face, lips, nose, or food with the same hands. Try to avoid hand-to-face contact during flu season and teach your children to do the same. In this way, you avoid a direct channel that leads bacteria from the surroundings to the oral and nasal mucosa.

Engage in regular aerobic exercises

Such exercise pumps up the blood circulation and increases the number of virus-eliminating cells in the body. In addition, exercise activates the lymphatic system, which has strong detoxification capabilities.

Eat foods with phytochemicals

The natural chemical components of plants supply the human body with a dose of vitamins and minerals that virus-tested immunity absolutely needs. Forget about nutritional supplements and create a comprehensive menu, thanks to which you will receive a wide range of nutrients in all meals. Create a menu that will be as colorful as autumn itself. Don't forget about green leafy vegetables, yellow and red fruits, or quality seasonal fruits.

Limit alcohol

Alcohol throws the immune system out of balance. If you drink a lot of it, you are more susceptible to infections and you constantly dehydrate your body. One of the effective weapons of a strong defense is the constant intake of high-quality fluids. You can choose from fruit juices, smoothies, pure water, or herbal teas.

Eat probiotics

Probiotics actively work to prevent "bad bacteria" from winning in the body and throwing the body into a disease state. Many studies show that regular consumption of probiotics effectively prevents diseases of the upper respiratory tract, including the common cold.

Go outside in any weather

Summer comfort cannot be applied to autumn weather. If we wanted to wait for summer and pleasant sunshine, maybe we could get out once every six days in autumn. Put up with the real face of autumn and go for fresh air in all circumstances. Whether it's windy, cloudy, cold, raining, or dry and foggy, go out for at least half an hour of fresh air every day. A walk in the fresh air in good weather will oxygenate you and you will train your immunity "sharply", regularly, and strategically. If you accidentally find yourself in the rain without adequate clothing, the body will not remain in shock and will be able to defend itself.

Avoid the crowds

Although you are actively working on your immunity, others are not. They sneeze, cough, don't wash their hands, and spread bacteria. If you manage to avoid crowded situations during flu season, you will do well. Don't put your bike away until absolutely necessary and walk to work if possible. If you cannot avoid areas with a lot of people, wash your hands properly and stay near an open window.

Pay extra attention to the most frequently used places

In autumn, hygiene is more important than in other seasons. Wash the sink, handles, and kitchen with a gentle but effective detergent more often than usual.

Brace yourselves

Autumn is a perfectly natural option for gradual exposure to the cold. It is well known that hardening can do wonders for the immune system and that it works even when all other means have failed for some reason. Live with nature and harden yourself in the air and in the water. You will support your nervous, lymphatic, immune, and digestive systems, and you will also enjoy it properly because swimming in October is much more adrenaline-filled than swimming in July. Plus, you can forget about crowded lake beaches and crowds of people splashing by the shore.

Find an alternative

Alternative medicine is also often effective against colds. For example, you can reach for high-quality local herbs, which are particularly suitable for preparing tea in autumn and as a supplement to your drinking regime. If you want to reach for the exotic, you can drink echinacea tea in addition to honeydew, sage, or rose hips.

Get a good night's sleep

In autumn, the organism is tested more than at any other time, as a result of which it is often exhausted. Give him plenty of rest, especially at night. Don't stay up all night, don't look at computer and phone screens more than necessary, and if you feel sick and feel like something is crawling on you, take a day off before the viruses completely bring you to your knees. Rest is a powerful weapon that we often overlook. The immune system also works during sleep, so we must give it sufficiently long night shifts. Sleep in a well-ventilated, unheated but sufficiently warm room. Dry air harms the mucous membrane, while moist air allows it to work more efficiently.
