Bad Moves: Sanity At the Other End of the Runway

We all make some pretty bad moves now and then, don't we? The decisions we take today are out of the belief that they will do us good in future, unfortunately we don't always get it right.

At the far end of the runway are those who have done the sprint from where you are currently standing. They have felt the road, in all of its smoothness and potholes. You, on the other hand, haven't felt this road; how can you tell what it's like? Or are you confident that you have it all right in your grasp?

Some of us, our ideal lifestyles are still imaginary at this moment, and so we're putting in relentless effort to make them come to life. We have ideas whose potential to revolutionise the society make us shiver, because as organised and well off society appears, there's still yet to be fixed. But, what if our ideas only seem brilliant because there is something we are missing? Because, there is always more to this life than meets the eyes. The fact that the decisions we make today in the hopes of a better tomorrow don't always cut it should be eye-opening.

A toddler's innocence is so underrated, because life just seems so simple just thinking about it; just a snap of a finger and everything falls into place. But, is it really that simple? As far as technology is concerned, everyone just wants to have a slight edge over others, for the bragging rights, so it gets more gimmicky faster than one can spell gimmicky. Not to forget all the genius marketing talk they always come up with to entice us into their creation; they will tell you about a problem you didn't even know existed. Fortunately, Mother Nature always has some tricks up its sleeve that not even artificial intelligence can comprehend. The elderly may not know much, if any, about all these gadgets that today's generation has become overly connected to, but they lived and saw through this life just fine without them. Wouldn't it be unwise to look down on such people?

Our decisions don't always cut it, but is that the end of the world? The issue is that there are dangers that lurk within this runway of life, and those who have done the sprint uncovered the deep secrets that allowed them to glide all the way through to the end; what if they possess all the answers you need to keep yourself sane? Never be too naive to think that some experiences are unique to you, that they have never happened to anyone before. You will die from the inside while even your peers have had the experience to enlighten you, and thus save you from disaster. Yes, you can't blab about every little thing that happens in your life; the problem is that you can't always wrap your mind around every phase that life throws at you.

When was the last time you sat down with your elders, or even peers, and had a meaningful conversation about this life? Speak up, let them utter a few words from their experiences or observation. There is no doubt that some things will be unique to you, but such words can enlighten you and ease the sprint. Experience refines, and to some extents, alters the pictures of life that exist in our minds; lending them an ear will counteract your lack of experience. If you knew all the answers to this life, then it wouldn't matter the situation at hand. But do you?
