California resident won almost $700 million in the lottery

A California resident won $699.8 million in the Powerball lottery. According to the Associated Press, the win was the seventh largest in U.S. history.

It is noted that the ticket, in which all six numbers matched, was bought at a grocery store in Morro Bay. 

The winner will be able to receive the prize in its entirety for 29 years, or a one-time pickup of $496 million. Both options are additionally tax deductible.

The identity of the lucky winner is not yet known, as he has not yet submitted a formal application.

In addition, on Tuesday, October 5, five other Americans participating in the lottery each received a million dollars in winnings.
