Flowers love to decorate Life, too!

I have been growing geraniums for 11 years and in that time I have learned how to keep the plants alive through the winter. It only takes 25 drops each month to keep the bushes lush and foliage intact.

My geranium blooms

Green mass for any plant in winter when there is little sun is vital. In the leaf plate runs all the processes of photosynthesis. The more intense they are, the more lush the flowering will be next spring and summer.

Many people say (and write) that there is nothing wrong with geraniums going bald in winter. They say, in the spring we cut it "on a stump" and that's it. I fundamentally disagree with this. Leaves a plant loses from stressors.

First of all, geraniums need lower air temperatures to hibernate. If there is an opportunity to keep them at +15 +17 ° C, then it's great. In such a state of "slight anabiosis", the flowers perfectly tolerate a short day of light and accumulate strength for subsequent flowering.

This is the flowering of a winter-fed geranium. And look further in the gallery the same variety without fertilizer - feel the difference

By the way, if you have "angels" and royal pelargoniums blooming sparingly, the reason lies in the wrong temperature regime of winter maintenance.

In these varieties, flower buds are laid only at low temperatures. If they keep at least 3 weeks at +7 +10 ° C, you get an unprecedented early lush flowering. Do not cut them back in spring!

10 drops to strengthen the root system

I think that's enough theory. I'm going to tell you about 3 elementary, you might even say, the simplest fertilizers, thanks to which my geraniums and pelargoniums not only do not bald in winter, but also look quite luxuriant bushes.

I'll start with the fact that 1 time in 15 days to add to the water for irrigation 10 drops of potassium humate to strengthen the root system, improve the immunity of the plant, increase its adaptability to stress factors (in particular - the lack of light).

I buy potassium humate in powder form, in bags of 10 grams. I dilute this amount according to the instructions. I get in this way the uterine solution. It is him in the amount of 10 drops and should be used.

These are the sachets I buy in

If you already have liquid potassium humate, then carefully read the instructions. It can be either a concentrate or a ready-to-use working solution.

I add 10 drops of the mother solution to 2 liters of water for irrigation. This amount is enough for me for 20 plants.

Please note! Watering geraniums in winter should be very rare and quite sparing. The regularity is 1 time in 7-10 days. The volume per 2 liters of soil is 100 ml.

10 drops to nourish the green mass

Many flower growers during the winter time completely stop any feeding of geraniums. And they do it completely in vain. Yes, the plant is now in a dormant period and does not flower. But to maintain metabolism and photosynthesis it needs at least minimal nutrition.

To maintain the green mass, I use 10 drops of ammonia alcohol. I dilute them in 2 liters of water. Well, how to distribute this solution - written above. Nothing changes - 50 ml per 1 liter of soil in the cachet. That is, if you have geraniums in pots of 5 liters, then 250 ml per 1 watering.

Common household ammonia.

I apply 2 times a month with equal intervals. For example, December 1 and December 15, etc.

5 drops to preserve foliage

And another important winter dressing is iodine. I take the usual 5% alcohol tincture. I add 5 drops to 2 liters of warm water, shake the water thoroughly and water my geraniums and pelargoniums.

But it should not be done as you usually water, but along the edge of the cachet, so that iodine penetrated to the root system gradually, without burning it.

This element improves the processes of synthesis in the leaf plate and simplifies the process of nitrogen assimilation. This allows the plant not only to keep the leaf mass, but also to increase it a little.

Here is a picture of my geraniums (not all of them, of course)

Solution consumption is 50 ml per plant, regardless of pot size. Before applying the solution, lightly moisten the soil with regular watering.

Here are 3 fertilizers that help to keep geraniums and pelargoniums in winter in a healthy state. Do you feed your beauties in winter
