Games with the best soundtrack for rock and metal fans

We suggest you take a look and try the games for all fans of the brutal music genre.

Valfaris

A 2019 pixelated platformer (review at the end), notable for brutal battles, space travel, and heavy metal. Not surprisingly, Valfaris' music is highly regarded: the soundtrack was created by Kurt Victor Bryant, former guitarist of Celtic Frost.

As a brutal paratrooper armed with a flamethrower, we go through two-dimensional levels on a space station. In addition to bosses, metal riffs, unusual weapons and brutal battles await us.

Doom 2016

Obviously, this game should definitely be mentioned in this article. The grim metal is perfectly combined with the brutal gameplay.

The soundtrack was written by Mick Gordon himself, which complements and fully reveals the gameplay, just like in the Wolfenstein series. The heavy metal and edged weapons are an amazing combination. Especially if you need to fight off a crowd of bloodthirsty demons.

Brutal Legend

Welcome to a violent world completely inspired by heavy metal. You control Eddie, voiced by Jack Black. The creator of Brutal Legend is Tim Schaefer. You can say that he wrote a real declaration of love to the music genre. The composer of the brutal melodies was Peter McConnell, who also worked on Psychonauts and Grim Fandango.

The soundtrack includes over 100 songs, from Megadeth to Mirrorthrone. Some characters are voiced by such legends as Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy Kilmister (Motorhead) and Rob Halford (Judas Priest).

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance soundtrack was created by a lot of talented people who know a lot about quality music.

If you are looking for a game with a lot of electro-metal and some of the best music in battles, you are definitely here. You'll get heavy riffs from singers like John Bush (vocalist of Armored Saint, former member of Anthrax) and guitarists like Logan Mader (former member of Machine Head).

Quake

The funky and grim shooters are simply akin to rock and metal. Quake's atmospheric soundtrack was written by Trent Reznor, a member of the band Nine Inch Nail. This kind of music is great for fast-paced shoot-outs.

In the original 1996 shooter, the player fights ogres-mutants and other creatures in various locations: medieval fortresses, dungeons, etc. Since Quake has been re-released on PC and consoles, you can now enjoy the soundtrack without having to travel through time.

Halo 2

In addition to the opening theme, the second part of Halo features some great metal. The orchestral numbers by Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori are perfectly matched with original songs by bands like Incubus, Hoobastank and Breaking Benjamin.

The guitar performance in the opening theme is by Grammy Award-winning Steve Vai. Mike Einziger (Incubus guitarist) admitted that Halo is the only game that inspired the band to write an entire suite. Worthy praise.

Twisted Metal

The Twisted Metal series, or more precisely the first part, which became the favorite game of our childhood. Mad Max style madness with the participation of crazy clowns. However, the series is known not only for its dynamic car battles, but for the abundance of heavy metal.

In addition to original tracks recorded by members of the bands Primus and Buckethead, there is a wide selection of licensed songs. You'll hear famous rockers like Rob Zombie, Iggy Pop and Wolfmother. There are rumors of a new installment being developed and a TV series from the creators of Deadpool and Zombieland.
