Glasses or contact lenses?

What to choose? The classic option - glasses or more modern - lenses? This is almost a philosophical question with an aesthetic bias. Each method of vision correction, whether glasses or lenses, has both advantages and disadvantages.

The main thing to remember is that there are diseases in which a person is contraindicated to wear out contact lenses. Initially it is needful to consult on this issue with a good ophthalmologist. And when no contraindications will not be detected, you can safely proceed to the selection of the optimal method of correction.

To begin with, let's look at the advantages of using eyeglasses. This method is the cheapest, the main price is the choice of frames for glasses, the glasses themselves can be purchased at a reasonable price. However, it is worth noting that only the simplest frames are inexpensive, and for beautiful, trendy frames that accentuate your style and elegance, you will have to pay more. Glasses don't need any special care. Elegant frames and a face-shape fit can even give you a slightly different look, but at the same time, if you need to wear glasses with high diopters, they can distort your appearance. When wearing glasses, you also don't have to think about the necessary change of appropriate lenses, which also saves money.

Now about the benefits of contact lenses. Contact lenses do not change a person's face. They fully correct vision. They are practical in everyday life, they don't fall off your nose. Lenses never fog up, which multiplies the comfort of their use. A person gets more natural vision, with glasses it is somewhat distorted. With colored lenses, a person can change the color of his eyes. In the summer, it is possible to combine the wearing of lenses with sunglasses. Lenses will be a salvation for people engaged in active sports.

In turn, of the disadvantages of wearing glasses, it is worth highlighting the following. When wearing glasses all the time, their weight is strongly felt, especially at high diopters. Glasses limit a person's field of vision and can distort his peripheral vision. In the rain or when coming from a cold room warmth glasses fog up and have to be wiped frequently. In the hot season to escape the sun you will have to order special sunglasses, which will cost a pretty penny. An important factor is also a cosmetic effect - large dioptres will spoil even a very beautiful face. Besides, the lenses themselves change the eyes. For example, people with myopia make their eyes look smaller and less expressive, while people with hyperopia, on the contrary, look enlarged and big.

Contact lenses also have many disadvantages. Wearing lenses is not cheap. Good lenses are very expensive, and trying to save money and get a cheaper option, most likely will not give you the joy of feeling all the benefits of using lenses. You need to buy lens care fluids all the time. In addition, lenses need to be refreshed, and the frequency of replacement depends on the class, of lenses you choose. The procedure of putting on lenses is not simple, it will take time and skills to get used to them. It is necessary to learn a special culture of wearing lenses, which not everyone can do. To change lenses, you will have to carry both a special case and liquid. After all, no one is immune to the deed that after rubbing the eye, the lens can fall out, and without disinfection it is no longer inserted back. Your body will perceive contact lenses as a foreign body in the eye, you should accept it. Lenses can cause (especially with little experience of their use) irritation of the mucous membranes and various allergic reactions. Do not forget about possible inflammatory processes. It is worth specifying that allergic manifestations are caused mainly not by the presence of contact lenses as such, and means of care for it and its quality (that is, compliance with the rules of care). Having decided to wear lenses, a person should pay special attention to the issues of their storage and care. It is necessary to remember that it is possible to put on or take off lenses only after careful washing of hands. Only if all the instructions are followed can some of the above disadvantages be forgotten.

The optimal option, of course, is the combined use of glasses and lenses. However, many people prefer to use only contact lenses, because of the aesthetic appeal and a certain freedom of action. It is worth noting what such a person should still have spare glasses. They are very useful when the eyes need a little rest or when a person gets sick, for example, the common cold and his eyes will be watery, it is forbidden to wear lenses in this case and spare glasses will also come to the rescue.
