Eligibility

Following is the eligibility criteria to become a makeup artist:

1. Completed 10+2 from a reputed or a recognized board.

2. A bachelor’s degree in makeup or any other field.

3. A diploma, certificate, or a degree in makeup.

 

How to become a makeup artist after 12th?

1. Complete class 12th from a reputed or a recognized board with minimum 75%.

2. Enroll in a makeup school where you will be given full knowledge of this field, and you will work under professionals.

3. You can a pursue graduation from any other field as well.

Important things to do before becoming a makeup artist

1.       Work on your basics. Try to work on as many faces as you can.

2.       Your presentation is very important, try to make a great portfolio and update it with time.

3.       Build a good social media presence to communicate with clients and agencies.

4.       Give importance to your clients and work as per their requirements.

5.       Try to build an image first, don’t run after money blindly.

Important things you should NOT do to be a makeup artist:

1.Don’t ignore your graduation, no one wants to hire a person who is not even a graduate.

2. Don’t wait too long to pursue it, if you are waiting your school or college to get over then you are just wasting your time.

3. Clear all related concepts, try to get more work experience.

Skills required to be a makeup artist:

1.       Determining skin tones and undertones : As a makeup artist you should know which foundation you will have to use according to different skin tones and undertones.

2.       Colour theories : You should have a good knowledge of colours and know how to mix- match them.

3.       Skincare and allergies : You must know about skincare thoroughly and ask your clients if they have some skin problems and then work accordingly.

4.       Personal hygiene: You should know how to keep brushes clean and organised.

5.       Creative : You need to be creative enough to visualize every look before doing it on the client’s face.

6.       Communication : You need to be an awesome communicator, as you will have to work with a lot of people.

Newbies and freshers: INR 15,000 – 25,000.

Experienced : INR 50,000- 1,00,000.
