TCS CEO K Krithivasan predicts a "minimal" need for call centres across Asia within a year due to the widespread adoption of generative AI among multinational clients. The technology is expected to predict incoming calls and proactively address customer pain points. Chatbots equipped with generative AI will analyze customer transaction histories and perform tasks traditionally handled by call centre agents. The potential impact of AI on white-collar jobs, including call centre agents and software developers, has sparked global uncertainty. India, renowned for its back-office services, faces significant implications, with over five million people employed in the $48.9 billion IT and business process outsourcing industry. TCS has a pipeline of generative AI projects worth $900 million.

India has rejected the US State Department's Human Rights Report, which criticized India for alleged human rights violations. The report, which compiled human rights practices across the country, identified over a dozen types of abuses, including extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, torture, internet shutdowns, surveillance, intimidation, and violence targeting ethnic and caste minorities.

The sale of takeaway food and drinks will be banned after midnight in 12 busiest neighborhoods of the city, including Brera, the arts area, and Garibaldi, renowned for its upscale shopping centers, to maintain tranquility.

Milan is considering a crackdown on late-night gelato sales, aiming to tackle excessive noise in residential areas. Mayor Marco Granelli believes the ban is necessary to balance sociability, entertainment, and residents' peace and health. However, critics argue that the ban violates Italian culture and could damage businesses. Luca Finardi, general manager of the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Milan, believes Italians have a passionate dispute about whose gelateria is the best. Marco Barbieri, secretary general of the Confcommercio Milan branch of the Italian retailers' association, believes the prohibition goes against common sense and could lead to fines for families who want to go out for a walk after a pizza. He suggests extending the hours of parks and other areas to accommodate the "movinda" (partying) that won't disturb residents. Barbieri hopes the new idea will succeed, but hopes it would be passed in an altered form, removing gelato, water, and pizza from the list and making it later in the evening.

In 2013, Mayor Giuliano Pisapia was forced to withdraw plans to ban the sale of ice cream at night due to opposition from a group of ice cream vendors. Pisapia claimed the directive's phrasing was incorrect and that there was no intention to outlaw the sale of other food or drink at night. Rome's city council is considering measures to limit the sale of alcoholic beverages and takeaway to control late-night turmoil and reduce trash collection in popular nightlife areas. Florence outlawed new short-term rentals on websites like Airbnb in its historic district, providing landlords with tax benefits if they converted to regular leases.

Indian Ambassador Eric Garcetti has reassured parents that their children are their children in the US, despite reports of nearly half a dozen deaths of Indian and Indian-origin students in the US since January. Garcetti stressed the importance of familiarizing students with the US, having a network, and knowing what to do in case of dangerous situations or mental health issues. He also highlighted the need for students to familiarize themselves with public safety and resources in the US.

The US envoy to India, Garcetti, has emphasized the importance of campus security and local law enforcement for students studying in the US. He shared his personal experience of personal safety as a student in NYC in the 1980s, stating that the US has more resources than when he was a student. The envoy emphasized that American universities are "extraordinary places" to come to and offer overwhelming experiences to students, including Indian students. A pre-departure orientation program was held at the American Center for Indian students at Purdue University, University of Virginia, University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, and University of Los Angeles. Garcetti urged students to make the best use of their time in the US and adhere to campus safety briefings. The US consular team in India issued over 1,40,000 student visas last year, setting a record for the third year in a row. Garcetti emphasized the importance of common sense and arming students with knowledge of resources and best practices to ensure a safe and enriching experience for Indian students.

US envoy Garcetti expressed concern about the well-being of American students in India, stating that authorities take steps to prevent such incidents. He emphasized the profound impact India has had on his life and the importance of its connection to his soul.
