New Mitsubishi Outlander wins maximum score for safety

The crossover Mitsubishi Outlander of the new, fourth generation has won the highest rating for safety from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety of the USA, IIHS - Top Safety Pick+. It means that the car has not only reliable passive systems (safety cage, deformation zones, airbags and belts), but also advanced preventive safety complex, able to automatically stop the car in emergency situation.

The IIHS noted, that such estimation is applicable only to the cars made after June 2021: then Mitsubishi Motors made adjustments to headlights (the light is also estimated by experts). At that, the owners of earlier-made Outlanders can come to a dealer and correct position of lighting equipment.

The Top Safety Pick+ rating is awarded to models which have perfectly coped with six types of crash tests, including the most stringent - frontal impact with low (25%) overlap. Also cars should be equipped with a system of frontal collision prevention, capable of recognizing obstacles in the form of cars and pedestrians.

Recall, the fourth-generation Outlander debuted in February. The car is built on the Renault-Nissan CMF-C/D platform, that is the closest relative of the Nissan X-Trail. In the U.S., the car is sold with Nissan's 2.5-liter PR25DD atmospheric engine that develops 184 hp and 245 Nm, and a variator that mimics eight virtual gears. Prices start from $25,795

The third generation Outlander is still offered in Russia at a price of 1,919,000 rubles for a version with a 146-hp 2.0-liter motor and a variator.
