Next-generation Lexus LX is postponed until 2022

Toyota Motor is postponing the launch of the next-generation Lexus LX frame SUV due to difficulties with the supply of components from Southeast Asia. Most likely, it is about the crisis in the market of microchips. This was reported by the Japanese edition Creative Trend with reference to a source in the dealer network.

Earlier it was supposed that Lexus will start taking pre-orders for the new LX in September 2021, and the first deliveries were scheduled for December. Probably now we will see flagship SUV not earlier than 2022.

Lack of electronics imposes another problem - rush with Toyota Land Cruiser 300 sales: in Japan the queue for new cars stretched for two or four years depending on the modification. And as the new Lexus LX is built on the same platform and will be assembled at the same plant, its launch will only worsen the already difficult situation.

According to preliminary information, the same frame platform TNGA GA-F that is used in SUV Land Cruiser of J300 generation will be a basis of Lexus LX. Power-units will be taken from it, but there should be more powerful version LX750h. It will get 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 (V35A-FTS). However, if it produces 415 hp and 650 Nm on "Cruzac", in Lexus it will be assisted by an electric motor. The total output of the hybrid will be about 480 hp and 871 Nm of torque. Also the LX750h will apply a similar ten-speed automatic.

Lexus LX of previous generation is on sale in Russia yet, which has been manufactured with updates since 2007. The car costs at least 7,680,000 rubles for the diesel version LX450d.
