OnePlus Buds Z2 TWS Earbuds: Must Know Design Details

OnePlus Buds Z2 are reported to be under development and a launch could be imminent. A new report leaked detailed renders of the purported true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds, revealing design and other details. OnePlus Buds Z2, judging by the name, are likely to be the successor to the OnePlus Buds Z that were announced last year. OnePlus already has two products in its TWS portfolio – OnePlus Buds Z and OnePlus Buds Pro. OnePlus Buds Z2 are reported to look very similar to OnePlus Buds Z.

Design Details

Notably, the renders show that the new OnePlus Buds Z2 do not look like the OnePlus Buds Pro. But the similarities are only at the surface. One of the key differences between the two earbuds is their shape. The upcoming OnePlus Buds Z2 have larger earbuds that look like traditional pillows. There is also a hook at the top of the bud that allows users to attach the buds securely to their ears. Also, the bottom tip of the outer part of the outer earbud has a ventilation slot that lets you drain the earbud's built-in battery. OnePlus Buds Z2 comes with a 6mm driver unit, which we expect to deliver louder audio with better clarity and depth. The charging port is located at the back. One of the images show the rear of the earbud.

Price

The report claims that OnePlus Buds Z2 are already in mass production. And since the company's flagship smartphone, OnePlus 6 is due for launch in June, it is expected to go on sale by then. Going by previous sales pattern of the OnePlus smartphones, the OnePlus 6 could go on sale in early May, and the Buds will also likely to be available for purchase. Design As per the leaked renders, the OnePlus Buds Z2 resemble a circular piece of plastic, with a small metal base. One side of the base is engraved with OnePlus's branding, while the other side is plain. The earbuds have slits for the drivers and the voice coils, while the USB port is located on the back. The top of the earbuds features a button for pairing the earbuds with the smartphone.

Battery Life

OnePlus Buds Z2 are expected to get 2.5 hours of battery life while charging over a 4.5 hours. The charging case is reported to have enough capacity to recharge the earbuds four times. The case itself is a mix of plastic and metal. The overall dimensions of the case are 14.2 x 6.6 x 0.6 inches and it weighs 17 grams. Interestingly, the charging case itself will be slightly bigger than the earbuds. Appearance As per the renders, OnePlus Buds Z2 will come in three colors including Black, White, and Orange. The front of the right earbud has a cutout for the charging LED indicator and a status LED as well. The left earbud also has a cutout for the charging indicator, whereas the inside of the left earbud has a 3.5mm jack.

Connectivity

The OnePlus Buds Z2 earbuds reportedly have Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and feature aptX codec for clear sound quality and very low latency. They also sport a magnetic case design. The device reportedly have support for both iOS and Android platforms. They come with inline controls and include a light ring on the right earbud that glows white when it’s connected. The light ring is actually a power button, as seen on OnePlus’ latest OnePlus 6T smartphone. The light ring on the right earbud glows green when there’s no power connected and glows red when it is connected. The charging case for the OnePlus Buds Z2 comes with a 200mAh battery inside and charges the earbuds 50% in just 30 minutes. It is said to last 8 hours in charge. Dimensions The purported OnePlus Buds Z2 measure at 145.
