Pentagon chief to visit Ukraine, Georgia, Romania, and Belgium

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will visit Ukraine next week as part of his European tour. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said this at a briefing on Tuesday, October 12.

"The secretary and his team will be preparing for a trip to Europe next week. Stops will include Georgia, Ukraine and Romania. And he will conclude this important visit in Brussels with allies and partners at a meeting of NATO defense ministers," the spokesman clarified.

Kirby also announced that more information about the minister's visits would be made public in the coming days.

It is worth noting that there will be a meeting of the defense ministers of NATO member states in Brussels on October 21-22. The meeting will be chaired by the Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg.

As reported, on 10 October, Ukraine received the first batch of military assistance from the USA, which Ukrainian and US leaders Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Joe Biden agreed upon during a meeting in Washington.
