What to play in December 2021: Halo Infinite, Icarus, Syberia: The World Before

The year 2021 is coming to an end, a slightly less grueling year than 2020. But the developers are pretty exhausted: twice as few games are released in December as in the other months. Everyone is preparing for the winter holidays.

On December 2, the stylish tactic Fights in Tight Spaces will finally leave early access - it's as if Superhot was isometric, turn-based and with maps. As the name implies, you'll have to swing your arms and legs in tight spaces, carefully planning each strike.

On the same day the free multiplayer action game Century: Age of Ashes will be released. It invites you to ride a fire-breathing dragon and arrange a clash with other riders. Three classes and three modes will be available at the launch, and next year the game is going to be released on consoles of both generations. We'll see if it lives up to that stage.

Also, the old-school cyberpunk RPG Mechajammer will be released exclusively on PC on Dec. 2. It was originally called Copper Dreams on Kickstarter, but since the launch of the campaign the name, graphics, and setting have all changed. However, the essence remains the same: it's a declaration of love to the Shadowrun and Syndicate eras, but with turn-based battles and, as the developers promise, a lot of freedom of choice.

On December 3, the highly ambitious arcade space sim Chorus will go on sale. The main character named Nara is a former member of a powerful religious cult. After waking up from brainwashing, she tries to stop her former mentor, who seeks to subjugate the will of all living beings. Her main assistant in this mission will be an intelligent starship.

Then Danganronpa Decadence, a compilation of all three numbered parts of the anime detective Danganronpa with an additional non-canon scenario, will be released on Switch.

On December 4, the cooperative survival game Icarus will finally make its way to release. Whether alone or as part of a group, you'll have to explore a stunningly beautiful but dangerous planet. Search for oxygen, track down animals, set up camp, and most importantly, mine minerals for which you can buy or improve new tools on an orbital station. But remember that expedition time is limited, and if you don't make it to the shuttle, it will leave without you.

On December 7 we're waiting for White Shadows, an adventure platformer clearly inspired by Fritz Lang's Metropolis. You must help a brave girl Galchonka overcome all the dangers of an anti-utopia built by wolves. Together with the heroine you will visit the top of a huge city, and in its grim slums.

At the same time Endwalker add-on for Final Fantasy XIV, which was postponed a couple of weeks from November, will be released. Pre-order holders will be able to participate in the early access from December 3.

On the seventh of the same day on the big platforms will move the former exclusive handheld Nintendo - Rune Factory 4. To simplify, it's almost like Stardew Valley, but in a fantasy setting and with more emphasis on combat. Your hero or heroine enters a magical world and immediately becomes the ruler of an entire region. Now it's his responsibility to provide the harvest, build relationships with the locals, and at the same time clean up the nearby dungeons of monsters.

On the 8th the main release of the month and the main release of the year for Microsoft: long-suffering Halo Infinite. Many have already tried the multiplayer - now it's turn of the story campaign, which should be the largest in the history of the series. In it, Master Chief will search for Cortana on the ancient halo of Zeta, open for exploration.

On the same day, the second season remaster of Sam & Max, subtitled Beyond Time and Space, will be released. In this installment of the comedy detective, the duo will face a giant robot, statues from Easter Island, vampires, Santa Claus and Beelzebub himself.

On December 10 the latest creation of Benoit Sokal, Syberia: The World Before, will go on sale. Kate Walker continues her odyssey, but this time the focus will not only be on her. The second storyline will unfold in Europe in 1937 and tells the story of the young pianist Dana Rose. She notices that the world around her is rapidly changing, and these changes do not bode well.

The same day, almost two years after its release, Terminator: Resistance actioner will get a full-fledged story add-on called Annihilation Line. In it, under the command of Kyle Reese you will have to make an attack in the most dangerous area of the ruined Los Angeles - behind the extermination line.

On December 14, the old-school shoot 'em up Asteroids: Recharged will appear on everything. The gameplay is the same as in the 1979 original: shoot the space rocks and dodge their fragments. Only now it comes with 30 tests, local co-op and a great soundtrack.

December 15, again on everything in a row, the Spanish Metroidvania Aeterna Noctis will be released. Judging by the trailer, it boasts a nice drawn graphics, 16 maps and the most pathos-laden nickname of the protagonist in the history: "King of Darkness. It's true that the King looks an awful lot like Alucard from Symphony of the Night.

On December 16, Detective Alfred Hitchcock: Vertigo will go on sale on PC. As you can guess from the title, the game is related to the cult thriller Vertigo, but this is not another project based on the movie. Instead of simply retelling the plot of the original, the developers tried to reproduce the typical directorial and scriptwriting tricks of Hitchcock, catching his handwriting. The task, to be frank, not an easy one.

On the same day on the PC and consoles from Sony should come out Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach. This time the players will not only sitting behind the monitor and switching buttons, but a full-fledged stealth horror with a lot of types of gameplay (including the sitting behind the monitor and switching buttons).

Well, on the PC and consoles from Microsoft on December 16 the adventure The Gunk will appear. In it, you'll explore an unfamiliar planet and save it from a malicious black sludge.
